چکیده

The formation of bosonic bound states underlies the formation of a superfluid ground state in the many-body phase diagram of ultracold Fermi gases. We study bound-state formation in a spinand mass-imbalanced ultracold Fermi gas confined in a box with hard-wall boundary conditions. Because of the presence of finite Fermi spheres, the center-of-mass momentum of the potentially formed bound states can be finite, depending on the parameters controlling mass and spin imbalance as well as the coupling strength. We exploit this observation to estimate the potential location of inhomogeneous phases in the many-body phase diagram as a function of spinand mass imbalance as well as the box size. Our results suggest that a hard-wall box does not alter substantially the many-body phase diagram calculated in the thermodynamic limit. Therefore, such a box may serve as an ideal trap potential to bring experiment and theory closely together and facilitate the search for exotic inhomogeneous ground states.

The weighted density functional theory proposed by Tarazona is applied to study the solid-liquid interface. In the last two decades the weighted density functional became a useful tool to consider the properties of inhomogeneous liquids. In this theory, the role of the size of molecules or the particles of which the matter is composed, was found to be important. In this resarch we study a har...

Bethe Ansatz study of one-dimensional Bose and Fermi gases with periodic and hard wall boundary conditions

We extend the exact periodic Bethe Ansatz solution for onedimensional bosons and fermions with δ-interaction and arbitrary internal degrees of freedom to the case of hard wall boundary conditions. We give an analysis of the ground state properties of fermionic systems with two internal degrees of freedom, including expansions of the ground state energy in the weak and strong coupling limits. Molecular regimes in ultracold Fermi gases

The use of Feshbach resonances for tuning the interparticle interaction in ultracold Fermi gases has led to remarkable developments, in particular to the creation and Bose-Einstein condensation of weakly bound diatomic molecules of fermionic atoms. These are the largest diatomic molecules obtained so far, with a size of the order of thousands of angstroms. They represent novel composite bosons,...

N ov 1 99 5 1 Rigorous Density Functional Theory for Inhomogeneous Bose - Condensed Fluids

The density functional theory originally developed by Hohenberg, Kohn and Sham provides a rigorous conceptual framework for dealing with inhomoge-neous interacting Fermi systems. We extend this approach to deal with in-homogeneous interacting Bose-condensed systems, limiting this presentation to setting up the formalism to deal with ground state (T = 0) properties. The key new feature is that o...
